Born in Barbados, Corey was raised by a single father in Silver Hill Village and later in Lodge Road, both in Christ Church. He attended the Milton Lynch Primary School (formerly the Christ Church Boys’ School), which was familiarly called the Water Street Boys’ school. From there, he graduated as one of the top two performing boys, went on to The St. Michael School for his secondary level education, and later to the Combermere School for advanced level studies.
Corey entered the world of work at 18 years old. Hard work and diligent effort drove his success, and he went on to gain several years’ experience in the financial services sector as an accountant. Alas, a career in accounting was not to be his final career chapter.
After a decade and a half as an accountant, Corey enrolled in the University of the West Indies law faculty, where he read for a Bachelor of Laws degree and later went on to be awarded the Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago. Corey also holds a Master of Laws degree in Corporate and Commercial Law and is currently reading for a Master of Science degree in Energy Policy and Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex, England. As an Attorney-at-Law, he has amassed several years’ experience as legal counsel advising on international cross-border financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and international corporate restructuring.
Throughout the years Corey has contributed a significant amount of his time and professional expertise to charitable projects, non-profit organisations, and faith-based organisations, offering his assistance in the areas of sports and youth development.
In 2020, he was appointed to serve as a member of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Barbados and served there for five years. During his tenure as a commissioner, he was seconded to the Caricom Community (CARICOM) on four separate occasions to serve on election observer missions throughout the region. The most recent occasion, he served as Chief of Missions to observe the Curaçao general elections in March 2025.
As Corey now enters the arena of politics, his heart is to serve the PEOPLE, as he has been doing behind the scenes for many years. By accepting the nomination to be the Democratic Labour Party’s candidate for the constituency of Christ Church South, he has dedicated himself to fighting for the rights and well-being of all Barbadians from all walks of life, no matter their circumstances. His quest is to restore a balanced democracy that works for the PEOPLE.
